Cladogram

The Lancelet is a Chordate but does not have a Notochord that developed into a backbone. As evolution occured, the vertebrates developed these backbones. Living organisms are always changing and evolving so eventually, vertebrates developed Jaws. As time passed, these chordates developed four walking legs. Amniotic eggs are a common adaptation amoung vertebrates. Most, if not all, vertebrates have hair or fur that is used for many purposes from protection to camoflouge.
